Stories begin
with understanding

Narrative craft grows through deliberate practice, honest feedback, and a clear sense of where you are headed. That is what we set out to provide.

Our perspective

Craft before
everything else

Most writers know what kind of story they want to tell. Fewer know how to structure it so readers stay through the last page.

Rethim Bolvex began with one observation: the gap between a good idea and a finished, readable novel is almost always structural rather than a matter of talent. Pacing, scene construction, point-of-view management, and chapter rhythm are learnable skills that respond to clear instruction.

8 structured learning modules per program

01

Concepts are delivered in sequence, so each one has context before the next arrives.

02

Exercises connect directly to the lecture content, keeping practice and theory together throughout.

03

Feedback cycles are part of the program because they are part of how learning works.

People who built this program

Each instructor brings a different part of the craft, covering the full picture of narrative construction together.

Daryna Kovalchuk

Lead Narrative Instructor

Daryna spent twelve years editing fiction manuscripts before moving into teaching. Her focus is scene-level construction: how individual moments accumulate into a story that holds.

Solange Petryk

Structure & Pacing Specialist

Solange approaches novels as systems. She teaches writers to read their own drafts as an architect reads a blueprint, identifying where load-bearing elements are missing.

What guides the curriculum

The program does not follow a single theory of storytelling. Different novels demand different structures, and writers need to understand why a choice works, not simply that it does.

Program architecture

How the learning path is structured

Each module builds on the one before it. Foundational concepts come early, giving later, more complex ideas something to attach to.

Program key

  • Foundational modules Story anatomy, narrative voice, and the mechanics of scene - covered in the first three modules.
  • Structural modules Plot architecture, chapter pacing, and tension management - modules four through six.
  • Applied practice Revision methodology and manuscript-level feedback - the final two modules.
  • Checkpoint exercises Short writing tasks at the end of each module, testing comprehension before writers move on.

Each module opens once the previous one is completed, keeping the learning sequential and ensuring later material has the groundwork it needs.
